European bison

To catch a glimpse of the star of Lascaux, set off on a safari train adventure with the Wild Expedition! In the heart of a vast nature reserve, they live alongside Przewalski’s horses.

A historic rescue

It was saved at the last minute, because by 1924 there were only
66 animals left in various parks and zoos when the Bison Protection Society was founded. Unfortunately, the Caucasian bison had already gone extinct. In the wild, it is now found only in the Bialowieza Forest in
Poland and in the Caucasus.

The European bison lived in Lorraine until the 18th century.
