Ce cheval vivait autrefois dans les steppes de l’Europe centrale et jusqu’en Asie centrale.
La Mongolie fut sa dernière patrie. Il fut sauvé par les zoos. C’est en 1879 qu’un explorateur N. PRZEWALSKI le découvrit et lui donna son nom.

Family life

Wild horses live in small family groups consisting of a stallion, mares, and their foals. Young males born into the group are driven out by the stallion when they reach adulthood. They then form small groups and attempt to take over a herd of mares by fighting off rivals.

Food

It feeds mainly on grass.
