Scottish cow

A truly eco-friendly lawn mower

This cow has long hair that effectively protects it from the cold. Its coat is most often red, but it can also be white, yellow, fawn, black and white, or even piebald.

Because of its ancient origins, this breed has been used to reconstruct the aurochs, the prehistoric ancestor of domestic cows.

Did you know?

This hardy breed, native to the Scottish Highlands, nearly went extinct due to low productivity. It was saved thanks to dedicated breeders.

Food

Scottish cattle aren’t picky eaters. They eat all kinds of plants, even the toughest ones. They are therefore used to clear and maintain certain natural areas and to prevent wet meadows from disappearing after being overtaken by forest.
