Striped Ibis

A sensitive, touch-sensitive tip

The bird appears black, but its plumage is actually iridescent with shades of green and copper… It inhabits areas near water sources such as ponds, marshes, and shallow rivers.

Very rare in Europe due to the disappearance of wetlands, it is found primarily in the Danube Delta and northern Italy. It is also found in Asia, Australia, and southeastern Africa.

It often nests in mixed colonies with herons and egrets, in trees or in reed beds.
